Kaixo-Hello, my name is Sabin (read as sub'-been). I was more into dogs, until I rescued a kitten from the trashcan in 2004, Eki. He acquired a dog kind behavior and he triggered my curiosity for cats. I learnt that about the 40 existing cat breeds do differ also in character, and I got charmed by the wild feline appearance and hyper active behavior of the Abyssinian cats. Eki also taught me that cats could be trained. Cats surprised me and I got determined that if I were to be a cat breeder, Abyssinian was going to be my breed. Thanks, Eki, for having appeared in my life! Rest in Peace. Here couple pictures of him: the first one is his first bathing right after being picked up from the trashcan and the second one was him as an adult.

In 2010 I decided I wanted to breed abyssinians. With Eki by my side, the search for our first breeding Abyssinian was started. The search took it quite long because, before a project is started, I like to analyze available information in depth and with seriousness and compromise, plus, there are few Abyssinian breeders in the Spanish State and I wanted to bring the best Abyssinians available in Europe to this little European corner of the Basque Country. In the process, I read all the books recommended in the Links and Bibliography section and I discovered FIFe (the biggest cat association in the world) and, with it, ASFE (which holds its representation in the Spanish State). Thanks to the conferences and cat shows of these associations, in 2012 I attended in the Danish city of Fredericia to the only special Abyssinian Cat show that was going to be held in Europe in that year. 69 Abyssinian cats from 21 different breeders took part in the show! There I met Mette and Søren from Faby-cats* cattery, and soon after they offered me the first female so I could start my own cattery: a ruddy female I call "Lehena". Almost right after, Jina, the blue female, was also incorporated, and couple years later the males.

Home based catteries are not profitable; they only produce losses, so this is just a hobby. Professionally I have worked as a M.Sc. Civil Engineer and, since late 2019, I am an undergraduate student in Psychology at the university. I live in Bilbo with all my abyssinians, as they were part of my family.

In the website we are talking in plural because the help and support of all my family are a must to make ABILKI domestic cattery true. Their support and visits are constant. Among all of us we make the ABILKI family.

If you have any questions feel welcome to use contact details below. I will joyfully answer back the best I can.
